impact: opportunities and challenges of data and AI in supporting the impact in
cultural sector
EACEA Project: 2025-2027
Data Conversations is a collaborative initiative to strengthen the societal and economic impact of the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) sector. The project addresses key challenges, including the lack of know-how in impact design, data literacy, digitalisation, and AI implementation. By bringing together creative and cultural organisations, universities, and sector-wide networks, the project focuses on:
AI-Powered Impact Tools. The development of an interactive digital tool designed to enhance impact design and assessment. Building on leading frameworks such as the Impact Canvas (Me-Mind project), Museums of Impact self-evaluation framework (MOI), and the Europeana Impact Playbook, this tool integrates AI-driven visualisation and text analysis to support CCIs in their digital transition, sustainability efforts, audience engagement, and AI adoption.
Infoexperiences: Innovative Data Collection. The project explores collaborative and creative data collection methods that enhance audience engagement and understanding. These approaches aim to provide CCIs with new ways to gather and interpret data in meaningful and impactful ways.
Artistic Research & Residency Program. Artists and creative professionals are brought together in a research and development residency, fostering collaboration in creating innovative data collection techniques tailored to the cultural sector.
Capacity Building for CCIs. Training and support are provided for cultural and creative professionals in: using data to inform decision-making and impact planning, empowering organisations through meaningful data discussions, developing innovative and engaging data collection strategies, and enhancing practical AI knowledge for cultural and creative work.
By integrating these elements, Data Conversations aims to equip the CCI sector with the tools and insights needed to navigate digital transformation, strengthen impact strategies, and foster meaningful audience connections.
